1 What is Political Opinions?
The Political Opinions site looks at over 500 political blogs and automatically tags the articles, this allows you to click on various tags and see all of the articles that talk about that particular subject.
Under each article, a list of possibly related articles appear so you can see the varying opinions across the blogosphere about this subject.
2 How can I add my blog to Political Opinions?
There is then a short form to fill in:
You need to choose the blog type, if the blog is general and not specific to a particular political party then choose 'Commentator' in the drop down box.
Where it asks for the 'Blog RSS Feed URL', please put the address of your blogs RSS feed, if you don't know what this is then put your blogs website address.
When a blog is added, it will not appear on the site straightaway. We first check to make sure it is a legitimate blog and not simply spam or advertising. It will then be approved and appear on the Political Opinions website.
3 How can I remove my blog from Political Opinions?
Please provide the name of your blog, we will then remove it completely from the Political Opinions site and place it in a special list that will stop it being added again in the future.
4 My blog has moved and the URL has change, how can I update it on the Political Opinions site?
5 My blog has been listed incorrectly, how can I change it?
6 Why should I register?
If you do choose to register, then several features will become available to you:
Trash, Treasure and Favourite Buttons
Under each article, you will see trash, treasure and favourite buttons. They let you easily rate each post, the ratings given to each article affect its rankings within the site and help people to see what the most popular articles are. By making an article your favourite, you can easily find it again in the future.
You can view the articles you've rated as trash, treasure or favourite at any time by choosing the appropriate display option on the homepage.
Personalised Article Feed
When you register you will see a new link on the homepage: 'Manage Your Personal Feed'. This lets you customise the blogs that are display on the site. For example, you may only want to see the articles from your ten favourite blogs rather than the hundreds of other blogs listed on the site.
6 How do I setup my personal feed?
You will see a list of every blog currently in the Political Opinions system. Tick the box next to each blog you wish to be part of your personalised feed.
If you want your personal feed to appear on the homepage when you are logged in, make sure you tick this option.
Once you have setup your personal feed, you can also access it directly by visiting: http://politicalopinions.co.uk/user/YOUR_USER_NAME replacing YOUR_USER_NAME with the name you use to login to Political Opinions with.
You can also access an RSS feed of your personalised feed at: http://politicalopinions.co.uk/userfeed/YOUR_USER_NAME replacing YOUR_USER_NAME with the name you use to login to Political Opinions with.
Be aware, your personalised feed is publically accessible so if you don't want people to access it, then don't share your username with anybody. Also, be aware that new blogs are added to the system everyday so its a good idea to update your personalised feed regulary if you wish to see the newest blogs.
7 I don't agree with something said in an article, how can I have my say?
Alterntively, why not setup your own blog? Its a reasonably easy process and once you have it up and running, you can add your own blog to the Political Opinions site.
8 I have a question that isn't in the FAQ?
If its a good question then chances are we will add it to this list of frequently asked questions.
9 I have an idea for a new feature on the Political Opinions site, will you add it?
If its an idea that we feel will help other users as well and provide an enhancement to the site then its likely we will build it. We have added many features in the past such as the personalised user rss feed based on user suggestions.
10 Why doesn't the Political Opinions site display properly in my browser?
At present the site has been tested to work in Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera and Safari.
